The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ When the sky bursts open, 1 And has responded to its Lord and was obligated [to do so] 2 And when the earth is stretched forth, 3 and casts out all that is within and voids itself, 4 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must: 5 O man, you have to strive and go on striving towards your Lord, then will you meet Him. 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 Soon an easy account will be taken from him. 8 And return to his people in happiness. 9 But he who is given his Record behind his back,- 10 shall cry for “perdition,” 11 and will enter the Blazing Fire. 12 Indeed he used to rejoice in his home. 13 and surely thought he would never return (to his Lord). 14 But yes! Indeed, his Lord was ever of him, Seeing. 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 by the night and what it covers, 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 that you shall surely ride from stage to stage. 19 What aileth them, then, that they believe not 20 And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, ۩ 21 Nay! those who disbelieve give the lie to the truth. 22 and God knows very well what they are secreting. 23 So give them good tidings of a painful chastisement, 24 Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise). 25
