The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great event, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 By no means! anon they shall know. 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 and made the night [its] cloak 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And made [therein] a burning lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 That We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 They will abide therein for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 Recompense fitted! 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
