The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 (It is) of the awful tidings, 2 whereupon they are at variance? 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 Nay, again, but they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 and created you in pairs (as men and women), 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and We appointed a blazing lamp 13 and sent down abundant water from the clouds 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And orchards full of trees and interlacing boughs. 16 Verily the Day of Decision is a time appointed. 17 The day the trumpet blast is sounded you will come in hordes; 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Surely, Hell lies in wait, 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 and everything We have numbered in a Book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
