The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 About the awesome tidings [of resurrection] 2 About which they differ? 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 Nay, again, they will come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth an even expanse? 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And (have We not) created you in pairs, 8 and We appointed your sleep for a rest; 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And We built above you seven strong ones, 12 and placed in them a blazing lamp 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 that We may bring forth with it grain, plants 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Surely the day of decision is (a day) appointed: 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 for the insolent a resort, 22 therein they shall abide for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 So taste (the fruit of what you sowed), for We shall add nothing but torment, 30
