The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the great event, 2 Regarding which they hold different views. 3 No! They are going to know. 4 again, no indeed; soon will they come to know. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 And We have created you in pairs; 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And made the day for livelihood 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? 13 And then sent down hard rain from the water bearing clouds. 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 The Day of Judgment will certainly be the final appointment. 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains will be moved – they will therefore become like mirages. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 tasting neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 For indeed they did not look forward to any reckoning, 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 but We have placed on record every single thing [of what they did]. 29 [So We shall say], "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
