The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ OF WHAT ARE they asking one another? 1 About the great news, (i.e. Islamic Monotheism, the Quran, which Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) brought and the Day of Resurrection, etc.), 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse. 6 and the mountains as pegs (to anchor the earth)? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 And We made your sleep to be rest (to you), 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day the Horn is blown and you will come forth in multitudes 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Surely hell lies in wait, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 However, We have recorded everything in a book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
