The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they question one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 About which they differ? 3 Indeed they will come to know soon; 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Did We not make the earth a spreading, 6 and the mountains as pegs? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And We have built above you seven firmaments, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 And from the wind-driven clouds We send down waters pouring in abundance, 14 so that We may thereby bring forth grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 and the mountains move, and vaporize. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 A dwelling place for the Taghun (those who transgress the boundry limits set by Allah like polytheists, disbelievers in the Oneness of Allah, hyprocrites, sinners, criminals, etc.), 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 Neither coolness shall they taste therein nor any [thirst-quenching] drink 24 save boiling water and pus 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 Surely they feared not the account, 27 They called Our revelations false with strong denial. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
