The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ When the forthcoming event does occur. 1 Then none will be able to deny its occurrence. 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth will be shaken with a terrible shake. 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 so that they become as scattered dust 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 (First) those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 8 Then those of the left hand -- how (unhappy) will be those of the left hand! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 Those are they who will be brought nigh 11 They are in Gardens of peace. 12 A [large] company of the former peoples 13 And a few of later ages, 14 (They will be) on Thrones encrusted (with gold and precious stones), 15 Reclining face to face. 16 Immortal youths will serve them 17 Cups and decanters, beakers full of sparkling wine, 18 which will not cause them any intoxication or illness. 19 And such fruits as they fancy, 20 and with the flesh of any fowl that they may desire. 21 And pure, beautiful ones, 22 Like unto hidden pearls, 23 as reward for their deeds. 24 Therein they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 The Companions of the Right 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 And plantains laden with fruit. 29 and continuous shade, 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit, abundant [and varied], 32 never-failing and never out of reach. 33 And on couches or thrones, raised high. 34 Verily, We have created them (maidens) of special creation. 35 And made them virgins. 36 chastely amorous, 37 For those on the right. 38
