The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Whereof do they question one another? 1 About the Great News 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 and raised the mountains like supporting poles? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 And made your sleep [a means for] rest 9 And made the night as a covering, 10 and made the day [a symbol of] life. 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 And have made (therein) a shinning lamp (sun). 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens of thick foliage. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 the day the Trumpet is blown, and you shall come in troops, 18 And the heaven shall be opened, and it will become as gates, 19 The mountains will be driven away and become like mirages. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 A place of resort for the inordinate, 22 They will abide therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 save boiling water and pus 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 Verily they were wont not to look for a reckoning. 27 and roundly denied Our Signs as false. 28 And all things have We preserved on record. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
