The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the great tidings! 2 concerning which they are in disagreement! 3 Nay, but they will come to know! 4 They will indeed come to know soon. 5 Have We not spread the earth like a bed, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 We created you in pairs, 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 and We made the night a mantle, 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 We have built above you seven mighty heavens, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water, 14 In order to produce grain and plants with it. 15 and luxuriant gardens. 16 Indeed, the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 the Day when the trumpet [of resurrection] is sounded and you all come forward in multitudes; 18 And the heaven will have been opened, and it will have become doors. 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 [On that Day,] verily, hell will lie in wait [for those who deny the truth] 21 It will be a place of return 22 therein to tarry for ages, 23 they shall taste in it no coolness, nor any pleasant drink 24 Save boiling water and a paralysing cold: 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 for they never expected to be called to account, 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 So taste (of that which ye have earned). No increase do We give you save of torment. 30
