The News (Al-Naba')
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ About what are they asking one another? 1 They quarrel about the great news 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 No indeed; they shall soon know! 4 Yes, indeed, before long they will learn all about it. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 And the high hills bulwarks? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And have appointed the night as a cloak, 10 And We have made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 And sent down, from the rain clouds, pouring water 14 So that We bring forth thereby corn and vegetation. 15 And gardens dense and luxuriant. 16 Indeed the Day of Decision is a time fixed. 17 On that day the trumpet will be sounded and you will come (to Us) in huge groups. 18 The heavens will be opened wide and turn into so many doors, 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed, Gehenna (Hell) has become an ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 They will not taste therein [any] coolness or drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 a meet requital [for their sins]! 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 And everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 Therefore taste it now – We shall not increase anything for you except the punishment. 30
