The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 About the Great News 2 About which they cannot agree. 3 Verily, they shall soon (come to) know! 4 Verily, verily they shall soon (come to) know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 and the mountains [its] pegs? 7 Have We not created you in pairs, 8 And made your sleep for rest, 9 The night a covering, 10 And have appointed the day for livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 and placed therein a hot, shining lamp, 13 And We have sent down from the rain-clouds water plenteous. 14 to make the seeds, plants, 15 And gardens of luxurious growth? 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 the Day that the Horn is blown, and you shall come in crowds 18 and heaven is opened, and become gates, 19 and the mountains shall be made to vanish, as if they had been a mirage. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 where they shall remain for ages, 23 Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink, 24 Except scalding water and [foul] purulence - 25 A fitting recompense (for them). 26 They indeed hoped not for a reckoning, 27 And they belied Our revelations with strong belying. 28 but We have recorded everything in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
