The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ What are they asking (one another)? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 About which they are in disagreement. 3 Nay! they shall soon come to know 4 Again, by no means! anon they shall know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a bed, 6 And the mountains as pegs? 7 And We created you in pairs, 8 and We made your sleep a rest, 9 and We appointed night for a garment, 10 and made the day to seek livelihood, 11 And constructed above you seven strong [heavens] 12 And We have set therein lamps glowing. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may produce therewith corn and vegetations, 15 And gardens of entwined growth. 16 Lo! the Day of Decision is a fixed time, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and the heaven shall be opened, and become gates, 19 And the mountains will have been removed away, and they will have become as mirage. 20 Hell will lie in wait (for its prey). 21 a return for the insolent, 22 there, they shall live for ages, 23 They will not feel cold nor taste any drink 24 Except boiling water, and dirty wound discharges. 25 a befitting recompense for their deeds. 26 For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. 27 And called Our communications a lie, giving the lie (to the truth). 28 But all things We have enumerated in writing. 29 'Taste! We shall not increase you except in punishment' 30
