Remember when Moses said to his people: "O my people, remember the favours that God bestowed on you when He appointed apostles from among you, and made you kings and gave you what had never been given to any one in the world. 20 Enter the sacred promised land which God has designated for you. Do not return to disbelief lest you become lost". 21 They said, "Moses, a giant race of people is living there. We shall never go there unless they leave the land first. If they leave it then we will enter." 22 Two men of those who feared (Allah and) on whom Allah had bestowed His Grace [they were Yusha' (Joshua) and Kalab (Caleb)] said: "Assault them through the gate, for when you are in, victory will be yours, and put your trust in Allah if you are believers indeed." 23 They said, "We will never enter it, Moses, as long as they are there. Go, you and your Lord, and fight, and we will stay here." 24 Said he: my Lord I control not but myself and my brother, so decide Thou between us and this transgressing people. 25 He said: 'They shall be forbidden this land for forty years, during which time they shall wander (homeless) on the earth. Do not grieve for these wicked people.' 26
