The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
46 verses, revealed in Mecca after The News (Al-Naba') before Shattering (Al-Infitaar)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
CONSIDER those [stars] that rise only to set, 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 by those that swim serenely 3 And who quickly present themselves. 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 On the Day (when the first blowing of the Trumpet is blown), the earth and the mountains will shake violently (and everybody will die), 6 Followed by oft-repeated (commotions): 7 Hearts on that Day will be throbbing; 8 while eyes will be downcast. 9 (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again 10 What! when we are rotten bones? 11 They say: "It would in that case, be a return with loss!" 12 Surely they will need no more than a single stern blast, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses 15 His Lord called to him in the Sacred Valley of Towa, 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 Then I will guide you to your Lord that you may come to fear Him.'" 19 And he showed him the greatest sign, 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 Further, he turned his back, striving hard (against Allah). 22 and then he gathered [his great ones,] and called [unto his people,] 23 Saying, "I am your Lord, Most High". 24 you pay attention 25 Most surely there is in this a lesson to him who fears. 26
