The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
By the angels who violently tear-out the souls of the disbelievers from their bodies, 1 and those that blow gently, 2 and by [the clouds] that swim serenely and 3 and those that outstrip suddenly 4 And then they manage the affair, 5 The day the convulsive (first blast) shatters convulsively 6 to be followed by further [convulsions]! 7 hearts upon that day shall be athrob 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 Even after we are crumbled bones? 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 and they will be upon the surface of the earth (alive). 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 When his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa. 16 and directed him: “Go to Pharaoh, he has rebelled, 17 Then say: Have you (a desire) to purify yourself: 18 that I might guide you to your Lord, so that you fear (Him)." 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 But [Fir'aun (Pharaoh)] belied and disobeyed; 21 and hastily turned away, 22 then, he gathered, proclaimed, 23 And proclaimed: "I (Pharaoh) am your Lord the Highest." 24 So Allah seized him with the punishment of the hereafter and the former life. 25 Truly there is a lesson in this for those who fear (the consequences). 26
