The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By those that pluck out vehemently 1 And those who undo the bonds gently, 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 By the angels hastening, 4 And who plan the implementation. 5 The day on which the quaking one shall quake, 6 Followed by the second blast, 7 On that Day will [men's] hearts be throbbing, 8 and their eyes shall be humbled. 9 They say, "What? shall we be brought back to life, 10 “When we have become decayed bones?” 11 [And] they add, "That, then, would be a return with loss!" 12 Surely it will need but one shout, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 when his Lord called him in the holy valley of Tuwa, 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 Then say thou: wouldst thou to be purified? 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 Then did (Moses) show him the Great Sign. 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 then said: 'I am your lord, the most high' 24 And thereupon God took him to task, [and made him] a warning example in the life to come as well as in this world. 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
