The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By [the winds] that pluck out vehemently 1 By those who gently draw out (the souls of the blessed); 2 by those that swim serenely 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 And direct affairs by command, 5 The Day when the quaking will cause a violent convulsion, 6 What must happen afterwards shall follow it. 7 Hearts that Day will be in agitation; 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 They say: “Shall we indeed be restored to life, 10 even after we are fragmented bones' 11 They shall say, 'That then were a losing return!' 12 Indeed, it will be but one shout, 13 And lo! they will be awakened. 14 Hast thou received the story of Moses? 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 And say to him: "Would you purify yourself (from the sin of disbelief by becoming a believer)", 18 and that I should guide thee to thy Lord, then thou shalt fear?"' 19 And thereupon he [went to Pharaoh and] made him aware of the great wonder [of God's grace]. 20 In response, he denied and disobeyed. 21 then he turned away hastily, 22 Then gathered he and summoned 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 So Allah, seized him with punishment for his last [i.e. his saying: "I am your lord, most high") (see Verse 79:24)] and first [(i.e. his saying, "O chiefs! I know not that you have a god other than I" (see Verse 28:38)] transgression. 25 In this there is a lesson for those who have fear of God. 26
