The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
I swear by the angels who violently pull out the souls of the wicked, 1 And who softly release the soul. (Of the believer) 2 And by those that swim along (i.e. angels or planets in their orbits, etc.). 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 On the Day, the shiverer shivers 6 and will be followed by another quaking. 7 hearts will throb on that Day 8 Their looks will be downcast. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 even after we have turned into decayed bones?" 11 They will say: 'Then we are returned lost' 12 But it shall be only a single cry, 13 and lo, they will all be in the open plain. 14 (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses 15 How his Lord called him in the holy vale of Tuwa, 16 Saying: go thou unto Fir'awn; verily he hath waxen exorbitant. 17 and say: "Will you purify yourself, 18 Then I shall guide thee unto thy Lord so that thou shalt fear. 19 And he showed him the tremendous token. 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 and brusquely turned his back [on Moses]; 22 Then he gathered his people and cried aloud, 23 and proclaimed, "I am your supreme Lord," 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Verily in this is an instructive warning for whosoever feareth (Allah). 26
