The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the angels who drag forth vehemently. 1 by the angels who gently release the souls of the believers, 2 and by those that speedily glide along (the cosmos), 3 and yet overtake [one another] with swift overtaking: 4 and thus they fulfil the [Creator's] behest! 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 and will be followed by the second one, 7 (Some) hearts that Day will shake with fear and anxiety. 8 While eyes are downcast 9 They say: 'What, are we being restored as we were before, 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They say: “That will then be a return with a great loss!” 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 And they will wake up suddenly. 14 HAS THE STORY of Moses ever come within thy ken. 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 Go to Fir'aun (Pharaoh), verily, he has transgressed all bounds (in crimes, sins, polytheism, disbelief, etc.). 17 and say [unto him,] 'Art thou desirous of attaining to purity? 18 And let me guide you to your Lord so you would fear [Him]?'" 19 So he showed him the great sign, 20 But he denied and disobeyed, 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 Then he gathered (men) and called out. 23 And then said, “I am your most supreme lord.” 24 Wherefore Allah laid hold of him with the punishment of the Hereafter and of the present. 25 Lo! herein is indeed a lesson for him who feareth. 26
