The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
By those who drag forth to destruction, 1 By those (angels) who gently take out (the souls of the believers); 2 By the lone stars floating, 3 And those who race each other in a race 4 and by those who regulate events. 5 On the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world], 6 to be followed by further [convulsions], 7 Hearts on that day shall palpitate, 8 and their eyes will be humbled. 9 (The disbelievers) say, "Shall we be brought back to life again 10 After having turned to carious bones?" 11 They say, "That, then, would be a losing return." 12 But it will be only a single blow, 13 So they will immediately be in an open plain. 14 (Muhammad), have you heard the story of Moses 15 When his Lord called upon him in the holy valley, twice, 16 "Go thou to Pharaoh for he has indeed transgressed all bounds: 17 "And say to him, 'Wouldst thou that thou shouldst be purified (from sin)?- 18 [If so,] then I shall guide thee towards [a cognition of] thy Sustainer, so that [henceforth] thou wilt stand in awe [of Him].'" 19 He showed him the mighty sign, 20 but he denied it and refused [the faith]. 21 He then turned away, striving in his effort. 22 And he summoned all his people, 23 “I am the supreme lord of you all.” 24 but God seized him and meted out to him the chastisement of both the next world and the present: 25 Surely, in this there is a lesson for he that fears! 26
