The Snatchers (Al-Naze'aat)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
By oath of those who harshly pull out the soul. (Of the disbeliever) 1 by the drawers (the angels of death), gently drawing (the souls of the believers), 2 by the swimmers (angels) swimming gently 3 and the outstrippers (angels), outstripping, 4 Then arrange to do (the Commands of their Lord), 5 [HENCE, think of] the Day when a violent convulsion will convulse [the world,] 6 There will follow it the subsequent [one]. 7 hearts will be throbbing, 8 and their eyes shall be downcast with dread. 9 [And yet,] some say: "What! Are we indeed to be restored to our former state 10 after we have become bones and dust?" 11 They have said, "Such a resurrection will certainly be a great loss". 12 However, it will only take a single blast 13 When lo! they shall be wakeful. 14 Has there come to you the story of Musa (Moses)? 15 His Lord called out to him by the sacred valley of Tuwa: 16 'Go to Pharaoh; he has waxed insolent. 17 And say: 'Would you like to grow (in virtue)? 18 Then I will guide thee to thy Lord and thou shalt fear (Him). 19 Then he shewed him the great sign. 20 but the Pharaoh rejected it and disobeyed (Moses). 21 Then he turned back striving. 22 Then he collected (his men) and made a proclamation, 23 Saying: "I am alone your lord, the highest of them all." 24 Thereupon Allah seized him for the chastisement of the World to Come as well as of the present. 25 In this, behold, there is a lesson indeed for all who stand in awe [of God]. 26
