He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 Because there came to him the blind man (interrupting). 2 You never know. Perhaps he wanted to purify himself, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 you attend to him, 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 And whereas he fears, 9 you pay him no heed. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 Out of what did Allah create him? 18 Of a sperm-drop He created him, and determined him, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 That We pour forth water in abundance, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And garden-closes of thick foliage 30 And fruits and grasses: 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his sons; 36 every man that day shall have business to suffice him. 37 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 38 laughing and joyous 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
