He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came to him the blind man, [interrupting]. 2 But what would make you perceive, [O Muhammad], that perhaps he might be purified 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And he fears, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 (It is) in Books held (greatly) in honour, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 noble and purified. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olives and palms 29 and dense orchards, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Everyman, that Day, will have enough to make him careless of others. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing and joyous 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Darkness will cover them, 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
