He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED AND turned away, 1 Because the blind man came unto him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who regardeth himself self-sufficient 5 you attend to him, 6 And you have nothing to lose if he does not become pure. 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 and fears (Allah), 9 you ignore him. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted, pure. 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Woe to man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 then eased his path for him, 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 and thereupon We cause grain to grow out of it, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 for you and for your herds to delight in. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 On that day man will run away from his brother. 34 And his mother and his father, 35 his consort, his sons, 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 but others will be gloomy 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Those, they are the unbelievers, the immoral. 42
