He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 What could inform thee but that he might grow (in grace) 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and that the admonition might profit him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 you attended to him, 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 And whereas he fears, 9 to him thou payest no heed. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Noble, virtuous. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what has God created him? 18 Out of a sperm-drop did He create him and then determined a measure for him, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 And olives and date palms, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 for you and for your animals to enjoy. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 his mother, his father, 35 his wife and his children. 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces will shine, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Dust shall cover them 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
