He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 when the blind came to him. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or yet remember, and the Reminder profit him. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 though it is not thy concern, if he does not cleanse himself. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And whereas he fears, 9 you ignore him. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So whoever wills, let him pay attention to it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 noble and purified. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what thing doth He create him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 how We pour down rain in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 And olives and date palms, 29 and gardens dense with foliage, 30 and fruits and fodder 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And his spouse and his son-- 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 Such will be the Rejecters of Allah, the doers of iniquity. 42
