He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who considers himself free from need (of you), 5 To him dost thou attend; 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And he feareth 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Nay, (do not do like this), indeed it (these Verses of this Quran) are an admonition, 11 So whoever wills may remember it. 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 Exalted and holy, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 noble and purified. 16 May man be slain – how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 then causes him to die and buries him, 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 So let man just consider his food: 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 Then We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And olives and palms 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage: 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 And when the Blast shall sound, 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 and from his mother and father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces will shine, 38 laughing, and rejoicing, 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones. 42
