He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 or receive some (Quranic) advice which would benefit him. 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 No! Indeed, these verses are a reminder; 11 Therefore let whoso will, keep it in remembrance. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 exalted and purified, 14 [borne] by the hands of messengers 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 and then makes it easy for him to go through life; 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 No! Man has not yet accomplished what He commanded him. 23 Then let mankind look at his food - 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 and therein made the grains to grow 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 and olives and palms, 29 Orchards thick with trees, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 Provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the deafening cry comes, 33 That Day shall a man flee from his own brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 wife and sons, 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 (Many) faces on that day shall be bright, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 And many will be dust-begrimed, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 Those! they are the infidels, the ungodly. 42
