He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or be admonished, and the admonition profit him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 To him you attend; 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and in awe of God 9 him didst thou disregard! 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 (This Quran) is also recorded in honorable books, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 and angelic scribes. 16 Woe to man! What hath made him reject Allah; 17 Of what [stuff] has He created him? 18 From a sperm-drop: He hath created him, and then mouldeth him in due proportions; 19 then the way eased for him, 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We poured out the rains abundantly, 25 and split the earth, splitting, 26 And We made corn grow, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 And olives and palms 29 the densely tree'd gardens, 30 And fruits and fodder,- 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 Man will fly from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Many a face will be glittering on that day. 38 and be cheerful and joyous. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 These will be the faces of the sinful disbelievers. 42
