He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 But what could tell thee but that perchance he might grow (in spiritual understanding)?- 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou attendest. 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 Of him you are neglectful and divert your attention to another, 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 exalted, purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From Nutfah (male and female semen drops) He created him, and then set him in due proportion; 19 Then made his passage easy (at birth); 20 Then He causes his death and provides a grave for him. 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 But no. He has not fulfilled what was enjoined on him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Then We cleave the earth, cleaving (it) asunder, 26 And caused to grow within it grain 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 on that Day each person will flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 for on that day everyone will be completely engrossed in his own concerns. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
