He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 Because the blind man had come in his august presence. 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 But the self-sufficient, 5 Unto him thou payest regard. 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 and in awe of God 9 you ignore him. 10 No indeed, this is a Reminder; 11 So whoso wills may give heed to it. 12 On honoured leaves 13 most exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 Then maketh the way easy for him, 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 then, when He wills, He raises him. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 [how it is] that We pour down water, pouring it down abundantly; 25 and then We cleaved the earth asunder. 26 Then We cause to grow therein the grain, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 A provision for you and for your cattle. 32 When the trumpet sounds, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 And his wife and his children, 36 Each one of them, that Day, will have enough concern (of his own) to make him indifferent to the others. 37 Some faces on that day will be radiant, 38 laughing, joyous; 39 And (many) faces on that day, on them shall be dust, 40 Blackness will cover them: 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
