He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ (The Prophet (Peace be upon him)) frowned and turned away, 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 You pay full attention, 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 So you leave him, and are engrossed elsewhere! 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted, Purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 noble and purified. 16 May (the disbelieving) human being be condemned! What makes him disbelieve? 17 From what stuff hath He created him? 18 From a (sperm) drop He created him and then determined him, 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 and then, if it be His will, He shall raise him again to life, 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Let man consider his food: 24 That We pour down the water, pouring (it) down in abundance, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and vegetables 28 And olives and date palms, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 For use and convenience to you and your cattle. 32 Then when cometh the Deafening Cry 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 and his mother and his father; 35 wife and sons, 36 For every one of them on that Day shall be business enough to occupy 37 [Some] faces, that Day, will be bright - 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news. 39 And other faces, that Day, will be dust-stained; 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
