He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As for him who thinketh himself independent, 5 you attended to him, 6 although thou art not accountable for his failure to attain to purity; 7 But as to him who came to you running. 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 These verses are a reminder 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted (in dignity), purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 Honourable and Pious and Just. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 From what did He create him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 and in the end He causes him to die and brings him to the grave; 21 and then, whenever He wishes, He will raise him back to life. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 That We watered it in abundance. 25 And We split the earth in fragments, 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 and vines and edible plants, 28 Olives and dates, 29 thickly planted gardens, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 That Day shall a man flee from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 laughing and joyous 39 And faces on that Day! upon them shall be gloom. 40 Veiled in darkness, 41 Such will be the Kafarah (disbelievers in Allah, in His Oneness, and in His Messenger Muhammad (Peace be upon him), etc.), the Fajarah (wicked evil doers). 42
True are the words of God the Almighty.
