He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 And what could let you know? Perhaps he (comes to hear you) to be purified. 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 to a rich man, 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 As for him who comes to you striving (after goodness), 8 And with fear (in his heart), 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 So whosoever willeth - let him be admonished therewlth. 12 It is contained in scrolls highly honoured, 13 most exalted and purified, 14 In the hands of scribes (angels). 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Perish the human! How unthankful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 From a single sperm He created, then proportioned him, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Indeed, he has not fulfilled that which He has ordered him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 For that We pour forth water in abundance, 25 Thereafter We cleave the earth in clefts, 26 Thereby produced grain in it. 27 grapes, vegetables, 28 Olives and dates, 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 an enjoyment for you and your flocks. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 mother, father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 On that day faces will be bright as dawn, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 but some faces will be covered with dust 40 Blackness overcoming them. 41 Those are the disbelievers, the wicked. 42
