He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because a blind man came to him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 Yet you pay attention 5 you attend to him, 6 Whereas it is not on thee that he is not cleansed. 7 But he who comes to you running, 8 and in awe of God 9 you pay him no heed. 10 No indeed; it is a Reminder 11 so let those who want to follow its guidance do so. 12 (Contained) in honoured pages, 13 Exalted and purified, 14 By the hands of scribes. 15 Noble and pious. 16 Accursed be man! How stubbornly he denies the Truth. 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 Then the way He made easy. 20 then He caused him to die and brought him to the grave, 21 then, He will raise him when He wills. 22 Not one – he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let the human being think about (how We produce) his food. 24 How We pour water in showers 25 and cleaved the earth, cleaving it asunder; 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and clover plants (i.e. green fodder for the cattle), 28 and olive trees and date-palms, 29 And thick gardens, 30 and fruits and pastures – 31 In order to benefit you and your cattle. 32 AND SO, when the piercing call [of resurrection] is heard 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 his mother, his father, 35 And from his wife and sons. 36 Every man that day will have concern enough to make him heedless (of others). 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 Some faces on that Day shall be dust-ridden, 40 Dust shall cover them 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
