He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away. 1 Because there came to him the blind man. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or become reminded so that the reminder should profit him? 4 As to one who regards Himself as self-sufficient, 5 you attend to him, 6 though you are not to be blamed if he would not purify himself -- 7 But as for he who came to you striving [for knowledge] 8 And is also fearful (of God), 9 you ignore him. 10 Indeed, this [Quran] is an admonition. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 In honored books, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 borne by the hands of scribes, 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Perish man! how ungrateful he is! 17 Of what thing hath He created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then He eased the way for him; 20 Then He causes him to die, then assigns to him a grave, 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will raise him up (again). 22 No indeed! Man has not accomplished His bidding. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 We poured down rain abundantly, 25 and then We cleave the earth [with new growth,] cleaving it asunder, 26 how We made the grain to grow, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and olive trees and date palms 29 and dense-tree'd gardens, 30 and fruit and pastures, 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 Then, when there comes As-Sakhkhah (the Day of Resurrection's second blowing of Trumpet), 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 wife and sons, 36 Everyone on that Day will have affairs to keep him occupied. 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing, rejoicing. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 enveloped by darkness. 41 These are they who are unbelievers, the wicked. 42
