He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 And what do you know, he may be of the pure! 3 or take heed and derive benefit from [Our] warning? 4 Now as for him who believes himself to be self-sufficient 5 So you are after him! 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow (in fulness). 7 But as for him who cometh unto thee with earnest purpose 8 and in awe [of God] 9 From him will you divert yourself. 10 Not this way – this is the advice. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 It is set down on honoured pages, 13 lofty and pure, 14 In the hands of scribes 15 Noble and righteous. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 From a drop of liquid; He created him and then set several measures for him. 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He caused him to die and be buried 21 Then, when it is His Will, He will resurrect him (again). 22 Certainly, he has not duly fulfilled His commands. 23 Then let man look to his food, 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Then We split the earth properly. 26 to yield therein corn, 27 And Grapes and nutritious plants, 28 and olives, and palms, 29 And dense gardens, 30 And fruits and herbage 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 on that Day a man shall flee from his own brother, 34 Mother and father, 35 And from his wife and his children. 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces on that day shall shine 38 laughing, rejoicing at glad tidings. 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 Darkness shall cover them. 41 those -- they are the unbelievers, the libertines. 42
