He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned (his) back, 1 Because there came unto him a blind man. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or be admonished, so that the admonition might have profited him? 4 As for him who was indifferent, 5 you attended to him, 6 though you will not be questioned even if he never purifies himself. 7 And to him who came to you eagerly 8 While he fears [Allah], 9 Of him wast thou unmindful. 10 NAY, VERILY, these [messages] are but a reminder: 11 and whosoever wills, shall remember it. 12 [It is recorded] in honored sheets, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 by the hands of the noble, virtuous, 15 Honourable and Virtuous. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then eased the way for him. 20 Then He causes him to die and be buried. 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Nay, but man did not fulfil what Allah had enjoined upon him. 23 Let man reflect on the food he eats. 24 We let the rain pour down in torrents 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 And We cause therein the grain to grow, 27 And grapes and green fodder 28 Olives and dates, 29 And enclosed gardens luxuriant. 30 And fruits and fodder: 31 (These are made so as to be) means of enjoyment for you and your cattle. 32 But when the great calamity comes 33 On the Day a man will flee from his brother 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 Covered with the blackness (of shame): 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
Allah Almighty has spoken the truth.
