He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 that the blind man came to him. 2 How canst thou know, whether haply he might be cleansed, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 So you are after him! 6 although it is not for you to be concerned if he remained unpurified. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And he fears, 9 of him you were unmindful. 10 No indeed; this is only a Reminder. 11 and so, whoever is willing may remember Him 12 (It is) in Records held (greatly) in honour (Al-Lauh Al-Mahfuz). 13 exalted and purified, 14 by the hands of scribes 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Accursed is man. How ungrateful is he! 17 Of what substance God created him? 18 Of a small seed; He created him, then He made him according to a measure, 19 Then (as for) the way-- He has made it easy (for him) 20 then makes him to die, and buries him, 21 Then when He listeth, He shall raise him to life. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let the human reflect on the food he eats, 24 How We pour water in showers 25 then We split the earth in fissures 26 And produce therein corn, 27 And grapes and clover, 28 and olives and palms, 29 And thick gardens, 30 and fruits and herbage, 31 [As] enjoyment for you and your grazing livestock. 32 But when the deafening blast is sounded, 33 upon the day when a man shall flee from his brother, 34 And from his mother and his father, 35 his wife and his sons: 36 Each man will have enough cares that day. 37 Faces on that Day shall be beaming, 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news; 39 And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust. 40 Dust shall cover them 41 They will be the unbelievers, transgressors. 42
