He Frowned ('Abasa)
42 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Stars (Al-Najm) before Destiny (Al-Qadr)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ He frowned and turned away 1 from a blind man who had come up to him. 2 But what could tell you that per chance he might become pure (from sins)? 3 Or that he may accept advice, so the advice may benefit him. 4 As for him who thinks himself self-sufficient, 5 So you are after him! 6 What does it matter to you if he will not become pure (from disbelief, you are only a Messenger, your duty is to convey the Message of Allah). 7 And he who comes to thee eagerly 8 and fearfully, 9 From him thou art distracted. 10 Not this way this is the advice. 11 (and whoso wills, shall remember it) 12 upon highly honored pages, 13 Exalted (in dignity), kept pure and holy, 14 (Written) by the hands of scribes- 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Perish Man! How unthankful he is! 17 From what did He create him? 18 Of a drop of seed. He created him and formed him according to a measure. 19 and then made the course of life easy for him, 20 Then He causes him to die, and puts him in his grave; 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 Nay; but he has not done what He bade him. 23 Let Man consider his nourishment. 24 We poured water, pouring it in great abundance, 25 Then split the earth in clefts 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 and grape vines and vegetables, 28 And the olive and the palm, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruit and grass - 31 (To be) a provision and benefit for you and your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 it will be such a day when a person will run away from his brother, 34 And his mother and his father, 35 As well as his wife and children. 36 on that Day each will be occupied with his own business, making him oblivious of all save himself. 37 Some faces that Day, will be bright (true believers of Islamic Monotheism). 38 Laughing, rejoicing at good news (of Paradise). 39 And other faces, on that day, with dust upon them, 40 o'erspread with darkness -- 41 these, these will be the ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity! 42
Almighty God's Truth.
