He Frowned ('Abasa)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Prophet frowned and turned away 1 when the blind man approached him, 2 And what would make you know that he would purify himself, 3 Or be reminded and the remembrance would benefit him? 4 As for he who is sufficed 5 you attend to him, 6 Though it is not your concern if he should not grow. 7 And as to him who comes to you striving hard, 8 And is afraid (of Allah and His Punishment), 9 Him thou neglectest! 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 Let him who will, pay heed to it. 12 Contained in honoured pages, 13 Exalted, purified, 14 [Carried] by the hands of messenger-angels, 15 Noble and dutiful. 16 Be cursed (the disbelieving) man! How ungrateful he is! 17 [Does man ever consider] out of what substance [God] creates him? 18 He created him from a living germ. He determined his fate 19 then eased his path for him, 20 Then gave him death, so had him put in the grave. 21 Then when He pleases, He will bring him back to life. 22 Not one - he has not yet completed what he was commanded. 23 Let man, then, consider [the sources of] his food: 24 It is We Who pour forth water, pouring, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 We make the grain grow out of it, 27 And grapes and fodder, 28 Olives and dates, 29 And gardens of dense shrubbery 30 And fruit and grass - 31 A provision for you and your cattle. 32 At length, when there comes the Deafening Noise,- 33 On the Day whereon a man shall flee from his brother, 34 and his mother and his father; 35 wife and sons, 36 On that day, each one has just one issue, which is enough for him. 37 Many faces will that day be bright, 38 Laughing, joyous. 39 some faces on that day shall be dusty 40 with darkness overspread: 41 It is they, the disbelievers, the sinners. 42
