The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 When the mountains vanish (like a mirage); 3 when the pregnant camels shall be neglected, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 when the seas shall be set boiling, 6 And when souls are united, 7 when the buried female infant is asked 8 for what offence was she killed? 9 when the records of men's deeds are laid open, 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 And when hell is further enflamed. 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 BUT NAY! I call to witness the revolving stars, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 one mighty and held in honour with the Lord of the Throne; 20 With authority there, (and) faithful to his trust. 21 And your companion is not insane. 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 he is not grudging of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 for whosoever of you who would go straight; 28 However, you will not be able to choose anything unless God, Lord of the Universe wills it to be so. 29
