The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars fall down. 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 The wild beasts stampede on the run, 5 the oceans are brought to a boil, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 Upon what sin was she killed for. 9 And when the written pages of deeds (good and bad) of every person shall be laid open; 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when Paradise is brought near. 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 Those that run [their courses] and disappear - 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 endowed with power and held in honour by the Lord of the Throne -- 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 Your companion (Muhammad) does not suffer from any mental illness 22 in truth he saw him (Gabriel) on the clear horizon, 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 Nor is this the word of a stoned satan. 25 So where are you going? 26 This is a reminder for all the peoples of the world, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
