The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
When the sun is covered, 1 the stars are made to fade away, 2 and when the mountains are made to vanish, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 When the oceans surge and swell, 6 And when the souls shall be joined with their bodies; 7 And when the girl [who was] buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed? 9 And when the pages are made public 10 when heaven is stripped, 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 The stars which rise and set, 16 And by oath of the night when it turns back. 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 [That] indeed, the Qur'an is a word [conveyed by] a noble messenger 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 obeyed, moreover trusty. 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 where then are you going? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And you will not, unless (it be) that Allah wills, the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 29
