The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
WHEN THE SUN is shrouded in darkness, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 The mountains made to move, 3 when ten-month pregnant camels are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts shall be gathered together; 5 And when the seas rise, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 questions are asked about the baby girls buried alive, 8 For what sin she was slain. 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 When Hell is set ablaze, 12 when Paradise is brought close: 13 (Then) every soul will know what it had prepared (for itself). 14 So I swear by the retreating stars - 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 and the night that falls, 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 Verily this is the word of a noble message-bearer; 19 Owner of strength, of established dignity with the Lord of the Throne. 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 So where are you going? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
