The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 When the stars fall, losing their lustre; 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 And when the seas rise, 6 when the souls are divided into different classes, 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed, 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 And when the heaven has its covering removed, 11 When the Blazing Fire is kindled to fierce heat; 12 And when the Garden is brought nigh, 13 then, each soul shall know what it has produced. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 and the morn as it breathes. 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 Full of power, well-established (in position) with the Lord and Master of the Throne, 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 And your comrade is not mad. 22 He certainly saw him (Gabriel) high up on the horizon in his original form 23 And this Prophet is not miserly upon the hidden. (Allah gave the knowledge of the hidden to the Holy Prophet – peace and blessings be upon him.) 24 And it (the Quran) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan). 25 Then where are you going? 26 Verily, this (the Quran) is no less than a Reminder to (all) the 'Alamin (mankind and jinns). 27 For the one among you who wishes to become upright. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Sustainer of all the worlds, wills [to show you that way]. 29
