The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 And when the hills are moved, 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be mustered, 5 when the seas are set boiling, 6 when the souls are coupled (to their body), 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 and Paradise brought nigh: 13 Every soul shall (then) know what it has prepared. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 stars which are visible during the night 16 And by the night when it departeth, 17 and the morn as it softly breathes: 18 behold, this [divine writ] is indeed the [inspired] word of a noble apostle, 19 with strength endowed, secure with Him who in almightiness is enthroned 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 Your Companion is not mad, 22 And indeed he (Muhammad (Peace be upon him)) saw him [Jibrael (Gabriel)] in the clear horizon (towards the east). 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 And it (the Quran) is not the word of the outcast Shaitan (Satan). 25 where then are you going? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
