The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
When the sun is wrapped up [in darkness] 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are made to pass away, 3 And when milch camels roam abandoned. 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 And the little girl buried alive is asked 8 For what sin she was killed 9 and when the scrolls of (men's) deeds shall be unfolded, 10 and when heaven is laid bare, 11 when Hell is set ablaze, 12 And when the garden is brought nigh, 13 [then] each soul shall know what it has put forward. 14 So verily I call to witness the planets - that recede, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And the Night as it dissipates; 17 And the morning when it brightens, 18 That this is indeed the word of an honoured Messenger, 19 having power, with the Lord of the Throne secure, 20 Obeyed (by the angels), trustworthy there (in the heavens). 21 For, this fellow-man of yours is not a madman: 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 This [message] is no less than a reminder to all mankind 27 for everyone of you who wishes to follow the Straight Way; 28 But ye shall not will except as Allah wills,- the Cherisher of the Worlds. 29
