The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
When the sun is wound up; 1 when the stars are thrown down, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 the young barren camels are abandoned, 4 when the savage beasts shall be brought together, 5 and when the seas boil over, 6 And when souls are united, 7 and when the female infant buried alive is asked 8 for what crime she had been slain, 9 And when the Writs shall be lain open, 10 when heaven shall be stripped off; 11 And when the hell is kindled up, 12 and Paradise is brought near, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 So, I call the receding stars to witness, 15 orbiting, disappearing; 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 The rising dawn, 18 This is indeed the recitation of an honoured Noble Messenger. (Angel Jibreel – peace and blessings be upon him.) 19 who is honored in the presence of the Lord of the Throne, 20 obeyed by (all creatures) and faithful to His trust. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 And of a truth he saw himself on the clear horizon. 23 Neither doth he withhold grudgingly a knowledge of the Unseen. 24 And it is not the word of an accursed Satan; 25 When whither go ye? 26 It is not except a reminder to the worlds 27 (With profit) to whoever among you wills to go straight: 28 And ye will not, unless (it be) that Allah willeth, the Lord of Creation. 29
