The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
(On the day) when the sun is made to cease shining, 1 and when the stars lose their light, 2 And when the mountains are driven. 3 and when she-camels big with young, about to give birth, are left untended, 4 And when the wild beasts are gathered 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls are paired. 7 And when the girl-child that was buried alive is asked 8 for what sin she was killed, 9 And when the books are spread, 10 The curtain drawn back from the skies, 11 and Hell is stoked, 12 And when the Garden is brought near;- 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 I swear by the receding stars. 15 Moving swiftly and hiding themselves, 16 And by the night as it closes in 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 Most surely it is the Word of an honored messenger, 19 The processor of strength, having an honorable place with the Lord of the Dominion, 20 The one who is obeyed, and trustworthy. (Other angels obey angel Jibreel). 21 And (O people!) your companion is not one possessed; 22 He had surely seen Him on the clear horizon. 23 He is not avid of the Unseen. 24 Nor is it the word of an evil spirit accursed. 25 So whither do you stray? 26 That is but an advice to the entire creation! 27 for whosoever of you would go straight, 28 And ye shall not will unless it be that Allah, the Lord of the worlds, willeth. 29
